Kurt Hoelting's book talk on "Apprentice to the Wild"

Join author Kurt Hoelting at the Port Townsend Public Library in the Carnegie Reading Room for his discussion on his newly published book Apprentice to the Wild (2025). Kurt will host a book talk, a book reading, and a short Q&A. 

"In this talk, drawn from his book Apprentice To The Wild, commercial fisherman and wilderness guide Kurt Hoelting will chart the evolution of his path from early encounters with wildness and risk on commercial fishing vessels in Alaska, to his embrace of Zen practice as a gateway to the the wild within. He will talk about how these inner and outer dimensions of wildness came together in his life as a wilderness guide in Alaska, and also how his exploration of the "wild within” is informing his life now as an elder in uncertain and turbulent times."
