Perennial Vegetables for Northwest Gardens

There has got to be a catch!  Plant a veggie once and, then, harvest it for five to twenty-five years?  It’s a lazy gardener’s dream come true and is most definitely possible to do.  This seminar will show you how to select the appropriate garden spot, prepare the soil and choose the right plants.  In addition to discussing the most popular vegetable candidates, you will also receive an extensive list of perennial vegetables which will do well in western Washington. 

Biography for Bruce Bennett

(This program will take place in the Pink House/Library Learning Center)

Bruce Bennett is a Seattle-based garden designer, consultant and instructor who has plied his craft in the Pacific Northwest for nearly thirty years.  He is trained as a WSU/Master Gardener and Rain Garden Educator, a WA Certified Professional Horticulturalist, as well as a Certified Nursery Consultant and horticultural advisor for Seattle’s Woodland Park Zoo.  He is past Director of Education for the Master Gardener Program Foundation of King County (the country’s first Master Garden Program).   In addition to lecturing in King County, he spends parts of the year teaching at various national and state parks systems and their surrounding Master Gardener associations. 

Bruce’s presentations are eligible for continuing education credit with the WSU/Master Gardener Program and Rain Garden Programs, as well as the Washington State Nursery and Landscape Association and Certified Professional Horticulturist Program if you are currently affiliated with these organizations.  His seminars are also CE-accredited in other states.  Verify CEU status with your respective accreditation agencies.
