John McCormack is a furniture designer/ maker and teacher at the Port Townsend School of Woodworking. He is an experienced solo kayaker, having paddled the complete Canadian portion of the Inside Passage, from Bellingham to Prince Rupert, BC. He has also paddled in the Queen Charlotte Islands, from Ninstints to Skidegate. The slide talk will concentrate on the journey from Sointula, near Port McNeill to Prince Rupert and the Queen Charlottes. Topics discussed will include solo kayaking, camping, marine hazards, native resurgence, wildlife and the consequences of extractive industries on this wild and lovely coast.
