Bio for Jill:

My life has been lived as a healer, herbalist, gardener, environmentalist, activist, lover of nature, guitarist, artist, and lifelong student

Formal education: B.S. in biology, graduate studies in bacteriology and public health, Certification in medical technology (laboratory science), Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine (acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine).

I have studied (western) herbology for more than 40 years. Some of my teachers were David Hoffman, Michael Moore, Rosalee de Foret, and Eaglesong. Growing, foraging and preparing herbal medicines is one of my favorite pursuits.

Soil health and human health are topics that are more intertwined than I could have imagined. I studied with Dr. Zach Bush about the soil microbiome, the human microbiome and their connection with human health. Dr. Bush is a soulful and caring human. He is a medical doctor and previously worked in cancer research. His class included a lot of cutting-edge science.

Presently I am completing my Pollinator Stewardship Certification with the Pollinator Partnership group. Xerces and Bee City U.S.A. are two organizations that provide prolific information about pollinators and growing a pollinator friendly garden in your own backyard. My own pollinator garden is 2 years old and already I have seen more hummingbirds, ladybugs, bees and small flying creatures than ever!
