Hearing Examiner

According to Chapter 2.14 of the Port Townsend Municipal Code, the role of the hearing examiner is to conduct appeals hearings and to interpret, review, and implement regulations within his/her authority. The office of the examiner is separate and distinct from any city officer or department.

The City’s primary Hearing Examiner is Phil Olbrechts an attorney with Olbrechts and Associates PLLC. Hearings are held at City Hall in the Council Chamber. Hearings are open to the public. Items for consideration by the Hearing Examiner are posted on the City’s website in advance of the hearing.
